PA Fruit Harvest: What to Expect

Come one, come all… the Fruit Harvest in Pennsylvania is in full swing at D’Arc’s Family Jam! One of the best times of the year, as locals know all too well.

From all of our jam flavors to the desserts we make with the leftovers! Peach cobbler, apple pie, blueberry jam bars, and so much more. Our mouths are watering at the thought of all the deserts in our future.

Not to mention, there’s really nothing like biting into a perfectly ripe peach on a hot day. It’s the epitome of summer in Pennsylvania, and we’re thrilled it’s here once again.

As we embark on summer’s hottest months, Pennsylvania’s most delicious fruits are at their peak in freshness and ready to be shared. Read on for more information on the freshest fruits in PA and discover the best time of the month to find your favorites locally.

June Fruits: This Year Went by Too Fast

June kicks off with our strawberries and cherries! We pick both sour, bright red, and sweet, dark purple cherries for our jams.

Don’t forget the rhubarb for our Strawberry Rhubarb and Rosy Rhubarb flavors.

July Fruit Harvest in PA

The month of July brings sweet apricots, juicy blueberries, and raspberries. Mid-July is best for blackberries, plums, and the juiciest peaches and soft nectarines.

July also boasts the freshest flowers and herbs, if that’s what you’re on the hunt for!

August Fruit

Pears and blueberries (did someone say homemade blueberry jam?!) are at their ripest come August, and those peaches and nectarines will keep your family full all month long.

Plums also reach their best in August, so be sure to pick up some of those from your local farm or market.

What to Expect in September in PA

Pennsylvania’s world-famous apples are at their ripest come September. Start practicing your apple pie recipe early this year, and perfect it by Thanksgiving to get a five-star rating from family and friends!

Don’t miss out on the best grapes this month, too for one of our favorite flavors, Grape Jam.

Changing weather patterns, variety of fruit, and farm locations all play a role in each fruit’s availability, so do your due diligence and make sure your destination has what you’re looking for!

As a locally sourced, homemade jam business, we are committed to not only providing our customers with the freshest ingredients in every batch we make but also supporting our local farms in the process. They are the backbone of our small family business, along with so many others, and we couldn’t survive without their hard work and dedication.

Happy Fruit Harvest!
